Triptych of embroideries on cotton.

About :
Superfluous technology and outmoded fashion items, this series of embroideries abandons the living fashion to draw from once-contemporary popular culture. Sega Dreamcast represents a video game console from the 1990’s technically surpassed by new machines. Similarly, the represented pair of Adidas shoes are no longer available in stores, while the Actor dumbbells have since also been redesigned. One may ask what this process of aesthetic transformation has to do with the first function of the object...
This triptych of embroidered objects makes up a poetic cross-section of commodity culture, poetic repertoire which inquires the nature of durability. The rhythm of fashion in consumer culture shortens the lifespan of mass-produced objects. Works of threads, these embroideries fetishize these products, transform them into pop icons, and ask us to reflect on their status as object.
