Sweethurts

(version française ici)

Info :
Sweethurts has received a grant from the DRAC Lorraine for its realization.

About :
A sculptural installation, the artwork Sweethurts represents a heart in faience anormally big. Broken in several parts, its strewn carcass shelters dozens of smaller hearts like eggs. The small replicas are different in size and in color: their container is shaded in pale pink, while the eggs multiply and confound with one another under the shadow of their black shell. Each of these pieces is marked with a message that is strikingly foreign to the language of love declaration. “Forever” has been replaced by words like “bad kisser”,“shut up” or “bitch”.
Sweethurts is a brutally honest look at what happens when the emotion of ove becomes the experience of loss. Words of harshness, of jealousy or exasperation, have replaced the “sweet talk”s of the early days of a relationship. The negative energy is concentrated at the center of the romance which cannot contain it anymore and explodes. Entirely made in faience, the installation is realized by the Enamels Fabric of Longwy. The fragility of the material is in perfect adequacy with the amorous feeling ; it is something rare and precious that must be cherished so as not to break it.
